Day 29

Don't forget to check back a little later for the Spotlight On feature!!

Today I want you to take a photo of a ...

kitchen utensil

Here's mine ... this electric carving knife is sooo old. It reminds me of my dad, who died when I was 10. It was bought in South Africa, in the early 80s I think, and was shipped over to the UK with all the rest of our belongings when we emigrated when I was 19. It has carved many a Sunday roast and Christmas turkey and feels like an old friend! I love it's retro colouring.

  1. I remember one of these too, I think my mum and step-dad had it for a wedding present in 1973! Funny how the belongings of our parents hold such nostalgic feelings .. funny but good x

  2. We also had one for a wedding present in 1980. My husband banned me from using it as I am known to be clumsy and he valued all my fingers, or at least didn't fancy spending hours in casualty.

  3. We never had one of these but I remember them being the thing to have :) How great that it still works and you have it.

I was so sorry to hear that you lost your Dad at such a young age. I lost mine last year and that was horrible enough. My condolences Suzie.

  4. Suzie, we have one almost like that in our cupboard. It's white and brown.

  5. We also have one just like that! My uncle gave one too both my dad, my gran and his brother for Christmas one year. I think they all still use them.

  6. We had one like that when I was little! One of our cats would literally come running from the fields at the bottom of the garden when he heard it switched on 'cos he knew it meant there was meat to be had... LOL! Thanks for the memory ;-)
